Sydney came from Kansas City over spring break to have her teen portrait session. I’ve know Sydney since she was 4 years old and I’ve loved watching her blossom into a beautiful young lady and ballerina. Her modern teen portraits and classic ballet portraits made a wonderful teen session.

Have you seen Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland? Well, I have and loved it! Of special interest to me was the amazing costume design. This personal project brought together my two passions: sewing costumes and photography.

Thanks to my children for modeling their 2009 Halloween costumes for my crazy vision.

During Rachel’s studio session, she modeled this beautiful sequined gown. She added her pointe shoes for some playful fun.

I’m not sure how she came to this last pose, but I love it’s hommage to “The Scream.”

Courtney is a a bubbly bundle of energy who very rarely stops talking! Well, maybe she stops just long enough to smile for some beautiful portraits. She had plenty of time to unwind while having her make-up done and then settled into some beautiful smiles and poised dance poses. Courtney attends school in Kansas City and is an incredible competitive dancer.

Courtney brought many of her dance costumes, and then borrowed one of our professional ballet costumes and formal gowns. We have so many fun formals, dance costumes and other accessories for great portrait looks.

Richelle is a Jefferson City High student with a very modern fashion sense, a great wardrobe and the largest make-up collection I’ve ever seen. She is an aspiring dancer in Jefferson City and Columbia, where she dances not only ballet, but tap and jazz.

Keller is a girl who loves to try different looks for her portraits. She is a ballet student with the St. Louis Ballet School and dances in many professional ballets. She also enjoys the fun of mixing a formal gown with a modern make-over and then topping it off with her pointe shoes.

Be sure to bring outfits for many different looks: modern, classic, formal, homecoming and prom dresses, cheer, sports, instruments – basically anything you can think of! The bad news: the j. thomas photography website is down for the next 24-48 hours while it is being migrated to a new server.

The good news: a brand new website is coming in two days!

The new website will have separate sections for children's portraits and for senior portraits, along with a link to my blog here. Also, the websites will have fully functional HTML (non-Flash) mirror sites. These sites will allow for slower connections to access information quickly, and will allow iPhone viewing. All the same information and galleries will be displayed on the non-Flash sites.

The new teen/senior site has many new photos from the last few months and many more will be added as the site is expanded over the next couple of months. Keep your eyes open for all my new teen/senior backdrops in the studio.

Another new addition is a brand new client viewing and proofing gallery. The new software includes many of the same great functions of my last proofing gallery, such as, passwords, slideshows and favorites. But, the new software has larger and sharper images, saved favorites for each viewer (with saved e-mail address), the ability to share your favorite proofs on Facebook or through e-mail, and all sorts of other fun options.

There are also so many new images added to the children's website as I haven't been updating my current website in anticipation of this transition.

Miss C. is a beautiful girl who needed just a little encouragement to feel really comfortable in front of the camera. After a bit a make-up, my trusty fan and some laughing, she realized her inner model and lit up the camera. What a great smile!
